MILLAMOLONG HOSTS WALLABIES

The picturesque grounds of Millamolong Station were transformed from the renowned polo field to host the second outing of the Silver Foxes Rugby team on March 8, 2008.
The Silver Foxes, which boasts over 350 Wallaby test caps, dusted off their boots for charity in the 2008 Harper Bernays Rugby Challenge taking on the Millamolong Barbarians XV, comprising current and past rugby players from around the NSW Central West. Included in the Barbarian line up was Jemalong Polo Club player Chris Francis from the Forbes Platypi Rugby Club.
Captained by ex-wallaby Richard Harry, the Silver Foxes included players such as Tim Horan, Jason Little, David Wilson, Tim Gavin, Andrew Blades, Marco Caputo, Tim Wallace, John Langford, Warwick Waugh and James Grant.
In front of a crowd estimated between 2000-3000 people , the Silver Foxes poured on the tries to secure a 45-34 victory. The charity match was the highlight of an event which raised upwards of $50,000 for the Hearts in Union Rugby Foundation a charity which supports rugby players who have suffered spinal injuries.
Millamolong Station owner, James Ashton, was particularly excited to be part of this fund raiser. “We jumped at the chance to help out with the Hearts in Union. It’s a great cause, and fantastic opportunity for country fans to cheer on the Wallaby players in a family orientated environment.”
An exhibition polo match was also held which saw the Millamolong Home Team (Wal Ashton, Deb, Andrew Ashton) victorious over the local Canowindra side (Joe and Richard Curran, Eugene Morais) 7-5.
