MILLAMOLONG HOSTS WALLABIES

The picturesque grounds of Millamolong Station were transformed from the renowned polo field to host the second outing of the Silver Foxes Rugby team on March 8, 2008.
The Silver Foxes, which boasts over 350 Wallaby test caps, dusted off their boots for charity in the 2008 Harper Bernays Rugby Challenge taking on the Millamolong Barbarians XV, comprising current and past rugby players from around the NSW Central West. Included in the Barbarian line up was Jemalong Polo Club player Chris Francis from the Forbes Platypi Rugby Club.
Captained by ex-wallaby Richard Harry, the Silver Foxes included players such as Tim Horan, Jason Little, David Wilson, Tim Gavin, Andrew Blades, Marco Caputo, Tim Wallace, John Langford, Warwick Waugh and James Grant.
In front of a crowd estimated between 2000-3000 people , the Silver Foxes poured on the tries to secure a 45-34 victory. The charity match was the highlight of an event which raised upwards of $50,000 for the Hearts in Union Rugby Foundation a charity which supports rugby players who have suffered spinal injuries.
Millamolong Station owner, James Ashton, was particularly excited to be part of this fund raiser. “We jumped at the chance to help out with the Hearts in Union. It’s a great cause, and fantastic opportunity for country fans to cheer on the Wallaby players in a family orientated environment.”
An exhibition polo match was also held which saw the Millamolong Home Team (Wal Ashton, Deb, Andrew Ashton) victorious over the local Canowindra side (Joe and Richard Curran, Eugene Morais) 7-5.

The Kerry Packer Challenge Cup Final

Yindarra defeated Garangula in the final of the 2008 Kerry packer Challenge Cup by 10-6

Yindarra hit the Ellerston home field running. After the 3rd minute of the 1st chukka they were ahead by 3 goals to 0. This lead was never reeled in by Garangula though they held their own for the rest of the game. Ruki Ballieu and Rob Archibald played very well and combined to score may of their goals. The MVP Ed Hinchman, the scorer of the 1st goal of the game, was outstanding in defence and attack and had several blinding runs the length of the field only to leave the glory shot for one of his team members. JP and Simon attacked at every opportunity and Jack Archibald was not intimidated to be out there against Australias highest rated player, Ruki, and his bother, Rob, and he mixed it with the big boys and came out the other side holding his head high. He and Rob had several clashes which i am sure rattled theirs, and their parents teeth who were watching on hoping both the boys could be winners on the day.
The Champion Pony was Rukis grey mare
Paspaley who he played in the 2nd and 6th chukkas. I was good to be back at Ellerston after a lay over of 2 years due to drought and EI.

EI INTENDED LEVY

ALL HORSE OWNERS NEED TO TAKE URGENT ACTION!!
On Thursday the Federal Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Tony Burke introduced a bill into Parliament to force recognized Breed and Performance Associations to collect a fee ($100?) on all new registrations, to help pay for the costs of fighting the EI outbreak. By pushing this thru the parliament at this time he is pre-empting any findings by the Callinan Inquiry and also his own newly announced 'Independent Review of AQUIS', and will be forcing a very small percentage of Australian horse owners to bear the huge costs of fighting the outbreak.
EI has been categorized as category 4. This means industry pays 80%, government 20%. The horse industry is arguing that the disease should be category 3 or 50:50 share. Category 4 diseases have only limited socioeconomic impact and are production diseases that only affect the horse industry. We (the horse industry) say the disease has a dramatic socioeconomic impact and affects many more people and businesses than the horse industry. The proposed levy is only on owners of registered horses but the benefit of control extends to owners of all horses and to people outside the horse industry, including government who are major beneficiaries of wagering income.
It is iniquitous that we should be required to pay for the control of the recent outbreak, particularly if the Callinan Enquiry finds that AQIS was negligent and responsible! AQIS have regulations which protect them even if they are proven negligent. Therefore it will be a moral and political issue.
PLEASE DO NOT SIT ON YOUR HANDS!! CONTACT YOUR LOCAL MP's AND THE MINISTER AND SHADOW MINISTER FOR AGRICULTURE, AND PASS THIS EMAIL ON TO EVERYONE YOU CAN THINK OF WHO MIGHT HELP US TO PREVENT THIS BILL AND OTHER SIMILAR REGULATIONS BEING PASSED!

News From In The Black Fence
Matias Benoit will not play in tomorrows games so Augustine Someone will replace him again but it seems as tho he will be right after that.
George Hill has broken his wrist after an unsafe ejection in practise today and Jeff Fisher has a suspected broken shoulder blade after he and George Milford Haven, (the Broncos patron) lost control of their car in the corrugations on the road.
There a few vital games being played tomorrow as teams are vying for spots in the semis. If Ellerston and Garangula win tomorrow Wastecorp need Yindarra to defeat Hyde Hill for them to go through. If that doesn't happen the 4 semi teams will be Ellerston, Hyde Hill, Yindarra and Garangula.
