RIVERLANDS INTERMEDIATE 6 GOAL

After a full days play yesterday with 16 teams entering for the 4 grades of play in 0, 2, 6 and 10 goal the finals were played today at Peter and Rebecca Higgin's Sydney Polo Country Clubs "Supremo" field. The 0 goal final was between Jemalong and Riverlands. Riverlands were too strong and had a convincing win. The 2 goal final was won by Pol Painters over SPCC. The 6 goal was taken out by SPCC over A.G.S.M. Please see previous post for team members.

The 10 goal final was played out between Marshalls, who handed out a hiding to Winten on Saturday, and Sandalford, who won their Saturday game in an extra chukka against Kurri Burri. It was a very even game all the way through with some fast stick work by the hired guns on either team, Ruki and Rob Archibald, they were well supported by there team and the final score was 9-8 tho Ruki did have the chance to even the game up and head for overtime but missed a penalty 3 with 15 seconds left. They were awarded the KH Marshall trophy which was awarded in the honor of the Marshall boys grandfather who taught them to ride as children on his farm at Exeter. The pony prize was awarded to Warwick Prendiville's 3 ponies who we are not sure of there names. well done to all.

News Flash

Congratulations to Chris Francis and Muz on the birth of their son at 3pm on the 5th April.

Conratulations to Karen and Tony Johnton of Ellerston on the birth of their daughter on the 4th April.

Commiserations to Marlene McFarlane who i saw walking around with one shoulder in a sling. It seems that she threw herself into the fray at the final of the Riverlands Tournament and broke her collar bone. Shane Fagan also broke his colar bone that weekend.

MORTON CUP

Ellerston today won the Morton Cup played at Windsor. Sorry that i have not had any updates but that was due to technical difficulties on my end. The Ellerston team for the final was a bit differnet to the line up for the first 2 games due to injuries. The original team was Neil Craig, Matt grimes, James Biem and Goerge Hill. Yesterday in a 6 goel game John Martin sustained a broken wrist and a dislocation in a fall and he was replaced by Neil Craig. In the final today of the 6 goal Neilo was playing again in Johns place and he got a smack to the face from his horse and was slightly concussed. He was replaced in the 14 goal team by Hamish Cottier. Jams Biem was nurseing a sore wrist after he was hit on it in the previous days games and he was replaced by Jaun Ambroggio. George andMatt managed to stay fit. They played against Wintens Dave Rothwell, Adam Tolhurst, Andrew Williams and Malcolm Borwick. Ellerston were given a 1 goal start but Winten had all the running for 4 chukkas. They led by 8-4 at the start of the 6th but Juan came out on the Champion pony Shelty and with great runs from Matt they managed to tie and eventually hit the winning goal in the extra 30 seconds. The Team of Ponies were given to Ellerstons "Flicka", "Lord" and "Fizz"

The 6 goal was won by Los Cabaleros. Adam Buchert, Charlie Aitken, Matt Anderson and Ruki Bailieu over Killarney, Graham Birrel, Tony Ryan, Hamish Cottier and John Martin.

The 2 goal was won by Riverlands, Gillian McCall, Ric McCarthy, Adam Meally and Jason Huljich.

The 0 goal was won by Andrew Williams, Scott Tonkins, Ellie Aitken and John Francis.
